Ever wondered how a bike comes together? Now’s your chance to find out! Shift Kidz Build-A-Bike Program gives youths, ages 12-17, the opportunity to get hands on experience putting a bike together piece by piece. Our experienced and knowledgeable mechanics will guide participants through each step, explaining how each parts works with the other to eventually make a bicycle. Build-A-Bike takes place over several sessions from 6pm to 7:30pm. Bicycles, parts, and tools will be provided. Register HERE!

January 25th from 2pm-4pm, lets stay cozy with a Winter Warm Ups group ride! Meet at Shift at 2pm (811 W 6th Ave.) and head out at 2:15pm. For this ride, we will do a loop on the river bike path highlighting some of the bridges in the area. We will end the ride at the Wandering Goat to warm with some hot beverages compliments of Shift Community Cycles!

This ride is family friendly and open to all. The route is about 7 miles in total and can be seen in more detail below.

For our first Sunday Session of the year, join us in the shop for a Zine Workshop!  We’ve got the supplies handled. Bring a friend, your creative side and enjoy the process! Your zine could be about a anything; a list of your favorite things, a comic book about a bike-riding superhero and the power of friendship, a how-to about upcycling bike parts , the sky is the limit. The great thing about a zine is that it is completely your own! Register to let us know you’re coming.

Every Third Thursday of the month, join us in the shop to help work on bikes! These bikes get dispersed through our programs to their new homes with those in need. No mechanical experience required. Come hang out, enjoy pizza, drinks, and good vibes with excellent people!

Let’s get green! When your inner tube gives out, don’t let that be the end of it’s life. repurpose it! Inner tube rubber can made into a myriad of different useful things. Come cut and paste with us and learn how to get more life out of your stuff! Supplies and snacks provided.

On December 21st, the Winter Solstice, Shift will hold a “light up the night on the darkest day” solstice ride! All ages are invited to come to Shift at 4pm on the 21st to partake in hot cocoa, upcycled bike part ornament making, and lighting up their bike for the night. At around 5/5:30pm, we will do a short loop up 5th street to show off our blinged out, lit up bikes! Shift will provide fun lights for bikes as well as hot cocoa and crafting supplies. Come join us and celebrate the shortest day by getting cozy with Shift!

All ages welcome; group ride will be about 2 miles at a mellow pace.
